SAVE THE DATE

Save the date for the 9th Annual BRICS Astronomy Working Group Workshop scheduled to take place on 16 – 19 October 2023 in Cape Town, South Africa. The workshop will be held in a hybrid format so a digital platform will also be made available, allowing for greater participation from all our partners.

Under the theme of Survey Science and Big Data, the meeting will bring together the astronomy community including researchers, outreach, education and development practitioners, and policymakers.

The program will consist of:

• Science talks
• Education, Development, and Outreach talks
• BRICS Astronomy Working Group Meeting
• Data Science Hackathon

This year’s meeting will be hosted by South Africa through the Inter-university Institute for Data Intensive Astronomy (IDIA) with the support of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI).

A formal announcement will be issued in the coming weeks and will contain details such as grants, registration information, venue, abstract submissions, presentations, and deadlines.
